Thank you for looking at our site!
I have had several requests about our pool and field trip policies. Here is some important information.
POOL RULES
1. Certified lifeguards must be monitoring the pool at all times.
2. One counselor will sit on the edge of pool and watch for every eight campers.
3. A director will be available at all time, circulating the area and monitoring activity.
4. -Campers- Standing with their feet flat in the pool, if the water comes up to their shoulders; that is the area they are allowed in. IF the camper wants to pass the swim test, then they could go in deeper water. If a child is uncomfortable with this, they can remain in the smaller pool, or go to the baby pool. (Less than 2 feet deep)
5. All campers must take a swim test to go in the deep end (and diving board).
6. A colored bracelet will be worn to indicate which area is appropriate and safe for camper.
7. Camper sign in book and First-Aid equipment will be brought to pool area.
8. Water cooler and cups will be brought to pool area.
9. Whistles will be used in case of emergency.
10. A pre-discussed meeting location will be used by campers and staff for breaks and in case of emergency.
11. Periodical head counts will be made by staff, and at the 45min break.(Use sign in book)
12. At adult swim all campers are to report to their counselor and get a drink of water to stay hydrated, and in the shade.
13. Walk at all times.
14. Campers must notify counselor nearest to them, when the restroom is needed.
15. Buddy system at all times- even restrooms.
16. No camper will leave pool area without an adult.
Traveling FIELD TRIPS:
Field trips happen once a week, and ALL campers and counselors wear the same camp shirt.
It is a camp shirt that has our name on the front, and camp's phone number on the back. The reason I have camp's phone number on the back, is if (knock on wood) a camper would ever separate from their counselor (and 4,5 or 6 other campers) someone could quickly call me, and I would make sure your child was safe.
I take a lot of precautions because your child is your most precious gift. Better safe than sorry!
Now, we buddy all campers up on field trips (in groups of two), and the counselors ensure everyone's safety by counting the campers in their group frequently. We also take an attendance of campers and counselors by reading the names on the sign in book once we get on the bus to go and leave from the camp and the field trip. Not to mention all certified (FBI & MD background checked, CPR, First Aid, Asthma trained and qualified) counselors have their walkie-talkie and cell phone on them for communication.
We also make sure that there is a counselor(of the same sex) in the public restroom area while the campers use the facility to ensure their saftey.
When we leave on trips, we leave around 9:15AM, and we report back to camp by 4:00PM or earlier. If your child attends camp for the half day program, and they would like to attend the trip, the cost is usually $20 extra, some field trips may be a little more. If your child does not want to attend the field trip, you must make other arrangements for them on field trip days.
Lunches should be brought on field trips. We will bring our coolers filled with ice packs and everyone's lunches on the bus, so that we may eat together once we get to our location.
I hope this helps!
